CASTLE QUEST

An Interactive Medieval Experience for Lords and Ladies of All Ages

Hosted at C.R.E.A.T.E! in Manchester’s Union Street Castle!

CASTLE QUEST is an imaginative interactive family-oriented journey through the Castle at 141 Union St in Manchester, NH.  On Sunday, June 28th, from 1-4pm.  THE NIKKI LABARGE MEMORIAL FUND will host Castle Quest as its first “fun”d-raiser to support the projects and work of C.R.E.A.T.E! The Center for Expressive Arts, Therapy and Education.

During Castle Quest, children and adults will enter the Castle as common folks and leave as lords and ladies of the realm.  Participants will learn from castle educators and make medieval objects in period clothing.  Participants will be guided through seven Castle areas as they prepare their garb, make their swords or veiled hats, go on a quest to find the Queen’s gold and finally meet the Queen.  As they return her gold, the Queen will knight them and allow them into her royal court.  Donations of $15 includes entrance to the Castle, a robe & sash, a choice of a sword or veiled hat to decorate during the experience, as well as refreshments and a free raffle entry.  The full experience takes about 70 minutes and concludes in the ballroom where there will be other fund-raising activities.

The proud owner of the host Castle is Steven Durost, a licensed clinical mental health counselor and arts-based therapist.  He is the founder of C.R.E.A.T.E! The Center for Expressive Arts, Therapy and Education which provides arts-based therapies as well as professional counseling services in this iconoclastic building.

“Not only do the other therapists and I feel privileged to work out of such a unique building, I feel deeply honored to be able to preserve this historic Manchester landmark,” states Durost.  “An event like Castle Quest is a way of inviting the whole community to enjoy the Castle.”

All proceeds will benefit the Nikki LaBarge Memorial Fund, founded in honor of Nikki’s supportive vision to help children, adults and the elderly access services at C.R.E.A.T.E! through low-cost groups, arts-based therapies and mental health counseling programs.

“Those who were fortunate enough to know Nikki miss her every day, and through this fund her caring spirit continues to help people experience healing and joy,” shared Durost.  “This event would make Nikki very proud of all of us.”
