Fun and easy!

Classic Sugar Cookie
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cps butter, softened
2 cps fine white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsps vanilla extract

Directions: In a large bowl, cream together butter and
sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the
flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for
at least three hours (best if done the night before). Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out cookie dough on floured
surface 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie
cutter. Place cookies an inch apart on ungreased cookie
sheets. Bake 6-8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

Thumbprint Cookies
If you don’t want to roll out dough with the recipe above and decorate with icing and sprinkles - use the same recipe to make these fun cookies.

Directions: Form 1” balls of dough and place a few inches apart on cookie sheet. Use a spoon to make an indent in the middle of each ball of dough OR have kids wash their hands and press their thumb in middle of each ball of dough. Put a spoonful of jam or preserves in the middle, and then bake
as recipe indicates.

Easy Cookie Frosting
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup shortening
5 tbsps whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
food coloring

Directions: In a large bowl, cream together the confectioners' sugar and shortening until smooth. Slowly mix in the milk and vanilla with an electric mixer until smooth and stiff (aprox. 5 minutes). Color with food coloring if desired.
