Ladybug Birthday Cake Recipe

What you need:

Metal bowl that you can put into the oven

Cupcake pan

Cake mix and the ingredients required for making the cake batter (eggs, etc.)

White frosting

Red food coloring or gel

Black shoestring licorice

Junior Mints candies

White M&Ms

Mini chocolate chips

Directions:

Make the cake batter following the directions on the box. Fill one greased cupcake space and pour the rest of the batter in a greased metal bowl. Follow the directions on the box for the baking temperature and cooking times. You will probably have to bake the bowl longer because of how deep it is. Use a toothpick or straw to check if it is done. (No batter will be on the toothpick when you remove it.)

Mix red food coloring into the white frosting.

After the cake is done, let cool, invert it onto a platter. Put the cupcake at one end of the body for its head. Cover the entire ladybug with the frosting.

Place a piece of the licorice down the middle of the body. Use the Junior Mints as the ladybug's dots. Use two white M&M's and two mini chocolate chips for the eyes and a Junior Mint for the nose. Use a piece of licorice to make the smile, and use two pieces to make the antenna.
