Let's Go, Red Sox! (All ages)

The Red Sox fan in your family will love this baseball-themed party. Serve ballpark food and play games that showcase their baseball skills. It's sure to be a home run!

Decorations

  • Get pictures of Red Sox players and Fenway Park and hang them on the walls
  • Red, blue, and white balloons

Food

  • Baseball diamond cake -- Decorate a sheet cake with green frosting and then use icing to draw a baseball diamond on it.
  • Hot dogs
  • Peanuts
  • Cracker Jacks
  • Popcorn
  • Ice cream bars

Activities/Games

Home Run Derby -- On a field or in your yard, draw a line that indicates a home run. Each player takes turns hitting a Wiffle ball with a plastic bat. If you have very young guests, use a baseball T for them to hit the balls. If the ball goes past the line, it's a home run. If it doesn't, it's an out. Have three outs per inning and have as many innings as you like.

Baseball Toss -- Have each guest partner up and stand opposite each other. One person tosses the ball and the other catches it. They then take one step backwards and toss the ball again. If a person drops the ball or fails to catch it, the team is out. Continue until only one team is left.

Fielding Balls Game -- Have an adult hit balls to the kids. The kids receive points for fielding the balls: 100 points for catching it in the air, 50 points for catching it after one bounce, and 25 points for fielding a grounder. If a ball gets past a player or he drops a fly ball, the person loses 100 points. The first person to reach 500 points wins.

Play a Game of Baseball -- Play an actual baseball game or play it on the Wii or other video game system.
