Movie Madness (Ages 10-13)

Kids of all ages love movies. With this party, you give older children a chance to be a movie star, walk the red carpet for their own movie premiere, and an opportunity to test their knowledge of movies.

Decorations

  • Material draped over the TV to look like theatre curtains
  • A red carpet at the entrance to the party room
  • Black and white balloons
  • Black and white crepe paper

Food

  • Cake decorated to match the movie the guests will be watching
  • Hot dogs
  • Popcorn
  • Pretzels

Activities/Games

Costume Contest -- Ask the guests to dress as their favorite movie character or movie star. When they arrive, give them a ballot to vote on their favorite costumes, such as best costume, most original, most colorful, and most authentic.

Walk the Red Carpet -- Have the guests walk the red carpet, strutting their stuff for the paparazzi. Ask parents to be the photographers, taking pictures of the guests. While the kids are watching the movie, download the pictures to your computer and print at least one for each guest to take home.

Movie Trivia -- Create your own questions from information found on IMDB.com or other movie resources. Have an adult read the questions to the kids. Guests get a point for each correct answer. Prizes are awarded for the first-, second-, and third-place winners.

Watch the Movie

Party Favors -- Guest take home their photo, a balloon, the prizes they won, and a goody bag filled with movie snacks and a gift card to go to the movies.
