Show Time!
The season is starting to sizzle with Bad Dates, Just So Stories, and The Breath of Life all on stage or just about to be. Bad Dates continues to draw enthusiastic audiences who leave the theatre praising Susan Riley Stevens for her comedic talent and stage presence in this one-woman show that keeps them laughing. No surprise that Stevens won the Barrymore Award for Best Performance by an Actress when she performed the role at the Act 2 Playhouse in Philadelphia. There are still good seats left for the remaining performances: June 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.

One of the best-kept secrets in town is the price of our Second Company children’s shows; these classics of children’s literature come to life on stage for a mere $8 for children, $10 for adults. Get a group of 8 or more together, and ALL tickets are $8. Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories, adapted and directed by Sevanne Martin, opens this Friday morning, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. A benefit performance of Just So Stories for Recreation Allies Network (RAN) is June 27 at 10:30. Just So Stories will also continue to run throughout July; Anne of Green Gables, directed by Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen, runs August 22-29.

And watch for The Breath of Life. We are thrilled to bring this David Hare drama to the stage for what is believed to be its U.S. premiere! Dale Hodges and Laurie Kennedy will star in this morality tale which tells the story of two women in their 60s whose lives are interwoven in ways they come to understand over the course of an unexpected visit. At times funny and frequently moving, the play raises profound questions about how we deal with the past and move forward into the future. The Times describes David Hare as “Britain’s leading contemporary playwright.” The Breath of Life opens July 1 and runs through July 12.
