Pinecone Critters Craft

Don't know what to do with all the pinecones your kids collected on that afternoon walk? Help them make these adorable pinecone critters.

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Pinecones

• Feathers: bright colors, brown

• Foamiescraft foam: black, brown, yellow, red

• Google eyes: yellow, white

• Chenille stems: black, orange

• Hot glue gun & glue sticks

• Scissors

• Wire cutters

DIRECTIONS FOR OWL:

1. Create feet by wrapping black chenille stem around the narrow end of pinecone. Wrap chenille stem around itself to secure. Bend each end into 3 toe shapes. Clip off excess pinecone at bottom with wire cutters.

2. On a small rectangle of black Foamiescraft foam, glue a yellow craft foam beak, 2 yellow google eyes and a black craft foam “V”. Glue to wide end of pinecone.

3. Glue on 2 brown feathers for wings.

DIRECTIONS FOR TURKEY:

1. Wrap an orange chenille stem around the wide end of the pinecone. Wrap chenille stem around itself to secure. Bend each end into 3 toe shapes.

2. On a small rectangle of black Foamiescraft foam, glue a yellow craft foam beak, a red craft foam wattle, and 2 white google eyes. Glue to the narrow end of pinecone.

3. Cut a fan shape from brown Foamiescraft foam. Cut out a curved notch from the bottom of the fan so that it nestles inside the petals of the pinecone. Cut a scalloped design across the top of the fan and glue into place.

4. Hot glue feathers in back of and in front of fan.
