Planned Parenthood Now Offering FREE in-home Discussions With Parents of Preteens and Teens

Informal house parties with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) educators as special guest facilitators are becoming increasingly popular as more and more parents reach out for a little extra help with the inevitable and important—but not always easy—sexual health questions of their children. Experienced sexuality educators are available to provide interested parents with the resources, examples, and practice they need to feel more confident and prepared for talking with their children about sexuality, relationships, and health.  Hosts invite up to a dozen friends and neighbors with similar aged children, offer light refreshments and an open, inviting atmosphere.  Lively conversation and plenty of laughter ensues as parents focus on skill building in a relaxed setting of good humor and mutual support. Participants often begin by exploring the messages they received from their own parents about sexuality, and nearly everyone has a funny or poignant story to tell.  From there, parents explore the kinds of messages they want to impart to their own kids while also evaluating the cultural and personal obstacles that keep those honest conversations from happening.

For information about scheduling a house party in your community, or for more about PPNNE’s professional training programs and parent resources, contact Heather Weinstein at 1-800-488-9638.
