Volunteers sought for N.H. dragonfly survey
Those interested in dragonflies and damselflies are encouraged to help with the 2009 New Hampshire dragonfly survey, a statewide effort to document these insects' distributions.
The goal of the project is to better understand the New Hampshire distribution of dragonfly species of conservation concern. Dragonflies and damselflies are easier to study than many other insects, and they can serve as indicators of ecological health and water quality. Biologists hope that this study will help identify areas to focus conservation efforts and resources.
If you would like to help with the survey, you must attend an introductory workshop:
- Thursday, May 28: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at McLane Center, Concord
- Friday, June 12: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Newfound Audubon Center, Hebron
- Saturday, June 27: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at AMC Pinkham Notch Visitor Center
